A Community-Based Economic Development Plan to Revive our Historic Quintana
From the 1900′s through the late 1940′s South San Antonio (SSA) City was a small suburban town outside San Antonio city limits. This small town stretched from New Laredo Highway to Quintana Road. South San Antonio had its own City Hall, City Council, SSA Post Office, barbershop, cafes, grocery store, and Union Bank of SSA.
Though much of SSA’s infrastructure still remains intact along the town’s old Main St, a lot has been forgotten. Help us revisit SSA’s historical past by visiting our spaces. (Excerpt taken from South San Main Street Project)
Across America, long-forgotten commercial streets are filled with deteriorating buildings, empty storefronts, bad streets, and sad neighborhoods. That is what happened to our corridor. Now, with the help of our neighbors, we are re-building the historic Quintana neighborhood, brick-by-brick, bootstrap style. Want to get involved?, Sign up and learn how you can contribute to our dream of revitalizing the Quintana Neighborhood.
